Magician revealing his secrets
HOGs can differ in quality – either we like them or not. The Conjurer: A Magical Mystery is the object of my adoration though I cannot say it is perfect. When we start discussing it in details some drawback are clearly seen.
The plot is dedicated to a magician’s part of life who is famous all over the world. His name is Conjurer and he is old enough to retire. But before leaving he wants to perform for the last time in the ancient mansion that is a very strange place. This performance is going to be a success. But there are also ten magicians that proved to be the best ones.
Conjurer is going to alter one of them to inherit his secrets after each of them makes something special to surprise an experienced magician. The plot is even fuller that I describe it but I allow you to find out the rest facts by yourself while playing.
If you like HOGs you will see that game structure doesn’t differ very much from the games of the same type. What you have to do is to search for a number of different objects inside the house and move through diverse parts of a big house. You will have to look for the objects in 3-4 places playing with one or another magician. Sometimes you will need to return to the same areas if there is a task to fid some other thing. There are magic things that you need to find according to your list. When you do well, you are able to move to the next stage. Some of found things will be used in future at the end of the story. So they are added to your inventory.
I would say that this hidden object game is not as hard as the other games. You don’t need to hurry up as your time is not limited. If you choose the wrong object there are no penalties. Hints help you greatly too. For example, they show the outlines of the hidden objects, reveal the place where it can be hidden or show the exact object position. But each magician can use only one of three hints presented. There are also extra games to play that ere easily skipped if you don’t want to spend your time on them.
There is a possibility to return your inventory things to area where you play. With their help a magician is able to show funny tricks for your entertainment. It is easy to recognize what thing from inventory list you need by moving your mouse out of the borders of playing area. You see an outline of the object that is necessary to use like a knife or a flower. For me it was even more interesting to guess by myself where to dispose the objects without using game hints. There were amusing riddles that you had to solve to know the name of the object.
Sometimes there is a trouble while finding the objects from the list. You may find that there are some objects that coincide with its indication in the list. So it may happen that you can click the wrong item. You may feel some frustration but on the whole it is not a serious drawback. Sometimes you may see the things that seem to point to the object you need to find. It is a mistake. In general they don’t have any meaning at all and it seems rather odd to me – if they are there they must mean at least something! The most important drawback for me was the lack of modes. There was only one – and if you want to replay the game it is not interesting at all.
Whether you are a real hidden object game fun, these small troubles will not disappoint you. The Conjurer tells a fascinating plot, the tasks are funny and graphics is bright. You will enjoy hours playing this game while having free time to relax.
