Guybrush adventures
A series of games Tales of Monkey Island tells a story about a pirate Guybrush Threepwood. The first game described his adventures while the second one called The Siege of Spinner Cay starts from the very point where the story was left. The performance looks almost the same with the first game though you can get more excitement due to interesting tasks made with wit and perfectly performed.
The story starts from the moment when our main character has a sword-fight for life with a pirate-hater Morgan LeFlay. It leads to a very negative consequence – while fighting Guybrush Threepwood loses his hand but manages to escape somehow.
Finally we find out that Guybrush goes to the weird island of Spinner Cay. There live a strange people named mer-folk and his wife Elaine among them. She is very unsatisfied with him because he has lost exactly the hand where his wedding ring had been. There he also meets LeChuck who is an evil pirate. Our main hero has an important goal – he has to dispose a magic instrument La Esponja Grande in order to get the Caribbean rid of voodoo curse. For this he starts visiting various islands to find the best place.
If you are interested in a manner the game should be played then I will say that it look like the first game. You use the keyboard of your computer to move Guybrush. With the help of the mouse you can perform actions concerning the environment (for instance, objects using or diverse heroes’ interaction). The tasks you should complete concern using of the items you find or finding a match for them. To be successful you have to be attentive while travelling in the area. There are some puzzles connected with interaction with other pirates – you will need to trick them but it seems to be a simple task as they are rather stupid.
Most of the tasks in the game are simple, only some of them will make you lose time on guessing or long reflection. But in general you will not find a puzzle not to be solved.
The secret of the Tales of Monkey Island popularity lies in its witty performance and well-developed action. The sense of humor is great without any doubt. So The Siege of Spinner Cay proved to be a brand-new super-game that managed not to disappoint expectations. More fun is added with the help of new heroes’ appearance. They make the game unique in the same way as the old characters do. In the combination they make up a fascinating team. Guybrush looks as clumsy as ever and LeChuck who became a good pirate arouse a feeling of adoration and admiration.
There is supposed to release 5 games under the same series number. The greatest news is that all the games are a strict sequence of adventures. The storyline passes from one game to the following. So, while playing a gamer expects to see continuation and a culmination at the end. Moreover the ending of every game will make you look forward to the next game playing.
For playing the second game it is strongly recommended to play the first one as there explains the whole storyline and the purpose of your actions. The game is witty and contains rather good tasks to complete. If you have completed the game Monkey Island you will certainly like The Siege of Spinner Cay.
